This is a Vintage Lion No. 4 Universal Mitre or Miter Trimmer Cutter which came out of a commercial estate and it is in good looking condition. Cast into the heavy iron on one side is "Pootatuck Corp, Shelton, Conn" and on the other side "Lion Universal Cutter No. 4." The blades are razor sharp, they can be readily taken off and sharpened by removing 3 bolts and nuts from each side (one of the bolts is missing one one side) and they slide easily from one end to the other. This appears to be a real workhorse which will outlast most new ones made today, the lever is removable and this cutter trimmer likely dates back to the 1940s or earlier. The base structure measures 6"x7"x23" and it weighs 28 pounds.
